Hope We Meet Them Again!!!!

The day was clear and the temperature rising, the much anticipated game between Walnut and Arcadia had begun.  With Andrea defending the goal, the Midnight Express vehemently fought the much taller Arcadians.  In a game where everything was at stake,  the two teams gave all that they have stored, as they have attacked leaving the goalies tested and weary.  The Walnut girls gave their all in a last second attempt for the goal in the first quarter.  An Arcadian got caught with a hand ball during a scramble in the box.  The Midnight Express scored the first goal at this time.  Both teams had defended their own turf rather effectively until the end of the second quarter.  The third quarter started and finished with the Arcadians dominating the game but had tried in vain to score  a goal.  The constricting defense of the Express took a great toll on the opponents but not without scary moments.  Christie H. was down once on a defensive move.   Tiffany had been decked twice causing her some battle bruises.  Katie fought back hard from illness opting not to be exempted from the rugged play of their opponents.  With heads held up high,  they fought back in the fourth quarter holding onto their lead (1-0).  But with about 2 minutes left in the fourth, the Arcadians mounted an attack and their efforts paid off.  They tied the score to 1 apiece.
Two 8-minute overtime periods followed.  Attempts by the Express on the goal seemed futile.  Janessa's indefensible kicks  would be few inches high, hitting the top bar of the goal granting Arcadia some time.  A previous attempt by Tiffany hit the squared right bar of the goal giving the opponent a much needed stop to mount their own offense.  Ladyluck stayed at the side of the Arcadians until they scored the winning goal at the end of the first 8 minutes of overtime. Panting hard, the Midnight Express were as hard to crack as a walnut and wouldn't give an inch.  They fought hard with all their might and hearts.  With heads held up high and congratulating the Arcadians, they are looking to meeting The Arcadians again; perhaps at the California State Games in San Diego.
